Hack Night?
Unfortunately looks like we are going to have to cancel the next meeting due to lack of available speakers. It’s a little disappointing, but the show goes on. Next I’m going to run a workshop next to increase the number of robots out there, I’m close to tracking down suppliers for all the parts, so more details soon. I’m also thinking about running a series of “hack nights” which is pretty much a meeting where people can come work on their projects (robotics or otherwise) for a few hours without any formal presentation or guidance. Basically a friendly environment where people can ask each other questions, collaborate if they wish or just show off the projects they have made. Probably to be held in Science Gallery, free of charge. Anyone think “hack nights” a good idea?
Oh and the new post/comment notification system seems to be working again! Hurrah
…and we’re back!

Four years, ten papers and a lot of coffee, all leading to one PhD thesis, submitted last friday. Phew what a relief!
I should now have more time to commit to the club and the site. Straight to it so, the next meeting of the Irish Robotics Club will be held in the Science Gallery on 28th of October. I hope to have an interesting speaker for the meeting lined up. But what would be even better is if some of the members would speak about their own projects (even for 5-10mins). No matter how small/big, basic/complex, successful/burned down your garage, your project is, it would be great to hear about it. It’s your club after all. But that’s not all.. to sweeten the deal the best talk will get a Maker’s notebook! (see Below). Comment here, post in the forum or email me if you would like to talk at the next meeting.

I entered the photos of the soldering workshop we ran over the summer into a Make Magazine competition and we won a runners up prize. Hurrah! and you guessed it, they are sending us a maker’s notebook!
