I've seen roborealm on the net, it appears to be the main one but you only get a one month trial version of it so I was wondering if anyone knew of a free version for windows or linux. I haven't been able to find any and I've been looking for ages.

Yeah roborealm use to be free but started charging about a year ago. I might have a copy somewhere of an old version (before you had to pay for it). About a 20% chance I still have something, but I'll have a look.

The major computer vision library is openCV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCV), which is free. Probably harder to use than roborealm but it is very powerful I'm told. There was a series of articles for using it with robots in servo magazine (http://www.servomagazine.com/) a while back.

Thats great I hadn't seen opencv during my searching at all. I'll try to make it using vb.net and I'll you guy's know how I get on, hopefully it will go well.

Thanks for the offer Dave I'd appreciate a look at the roborealm if you had it but no pressure at all.

Can't find roborealm I'm afraid, I think it went with my last reformat. Best of luck with Opencv. Post anything cool you get working
